WT DOT Announcement

This unique event, the only arts component of the MV Food & Wine Festival, brings a perfect combination of food, romance, comedy and conviviality—many of the ingredients for great evening. The four New York City professionals will sing opera classics (O soave fanciulla—Puccini’s famous La Boheme duet, Libiamo—Verdi’s popular drinking song), a bit of Broadway (Glitter & Be Gay—Bernstein’s virtuosic upper stratosphere soprano aria) and foodie tunes (Sara Lee by Kandor & Ebb (yes that Sara Lee), Ah! Quel Diner an aria sung by another opera character who likes her drink, from Offenbach’s La Perichole. Soprano Michelle Travoto comes to MV Food & Wine Festival straight from singing for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, mezzo Erika Person returns to MV, where she has starred in three WT DOT operas and is a long-time star at City Center with NY G&S Players, tenor Glenn Seven Allen recently seen on PBS’s broadcast of Carousel with the NY Philharmonic and baritone James Martin, recently seen in New York City and Boston's Gardiner Museum with NY Festival of Song and who will star as Pappageno in WT DOT 2014 Opera at Featherstone’s Magic Flute. Under the direction of Wendy Taucher, music is conducted from the piano by Jason Wirth, who spent the summer an assistant conductor at the Aspen Music Festival. Long-time WT DOT actor, Donovan Diez (you may recognize him from his national commercials, including Apple and Dunkin’ Donuts) provides facts, quips and context. The fifteen tunes selected will be easily paced throughout the meal, making for an artistic, audible and edible feast.
