Black Joy Food Love
Chef Ting cooked for her first dinner party at age 7 when she invited all of her 2nd grade teachers to dinner (without telling her mother). She grew up in a community rich in food culture and went on to travel throughout Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. There, she studied grandmothers in tiny villages learning their best loved dishes. She is at 78 countries and counting. Her formal food training was in Italy. She believes that the best food tells a story and presents a rainbow on the plate, so that we are eating foods that help us thrive, by invigoratingour bodies and our souls. At Black Joy Food Love, we are all about the joy: bringing it, feeding it, being it.
