Martha’s Vineyard community leader Julianne Vanderhoop is a mother of two, Wampanoag tribal elder, and select board member for over 10 years in Aquinnah, Ma. She now sits on the Duke’s County Commission, and has served on many non-profit boards on the Vineyard, including Island Housing Trust, Island Grown Initiative, and Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group. Juli is the owner of Orange Peel Bakery, a year-round food establishment serving the up-island community and visitors for over 18 years. She is a master beekeeper and teacher, and founding member of the local beekeeping club. She often engages in public speaking about Indigenous philosophies and food traditions. In her free time, Juli may be found taking walks with friends at sunset, cycling across the island, or playing cribbage.
