Chef Jimmy Alvarado was born and raised in Lima, Peru and has cooking in his blood. Nearly everyone in his family are professional chefs. Jimmy attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He moved to Martha’s Vineyard when he was 26 years old. He worked at The Beach Plum Inn, the Harbor View Hotel, Isola, Lamberts Cove Inn, and is the Chef/Owner of TigerHawk Sandwich Company. Jimmy has executed elegant weddings on the island for many years and has been a Private Chef for several clients on Martha’s Vineyard.

He is passionate about creating modern international coastal cuisine with a New England twist. Jimmy does this through his imaginative creativity and by fostering close relationships with the local farmers and fishermen. He constructs dishes with his signature style of unique flavor and elegant plating. He has an innate ability to see fresh produce and create a one of a kind dish.

Jimmy has traveled the world, spending time throughout Southeast Asia, soaking up all the flavor and culture the region has to offer; throughout Italy, the US Virgin Islands, and Mexico. Jimmy has worked in James Beard Awarded Restaurants in New York City. His travels and diverse work have amplified his use of flavor and creativity.

Jimmy has been reviewed several times by MVTimes, The Vineyard Gazette, the Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post for his excellent and creative cuisine. In 2016, he won the Local Wild Food Challenge.
